WiFi for Students - Connecting on Linux

Before You Start

Note: These instructions are for computers running the Ubuntu Linux distribution 12.04 or higher, using NetworkManager. Other wireless tools should have similar configurations.

Instructions

  1. In the top right corner of your screen, click on the wireless connection icon. This will bring up a list of available networks. Click on ClarkWiFi.

  2. An authentication window will pop up. Adjust the settings as follows:

    1. WiFi security field: select WPA & WPA2 Enterprise

    2. Authentication field: select Protected EAP (PEAP)

    3. Anonymous identity field: leave blank

    4. Skip the CA Certificate field for now.

    5. PEAP version field: select Automatic

    6. Inner authentication field: Select MSCHAPv2

  3. Enter your Clark account credentials (full email address and password).

    1. You might need to enter your Clark account credentials more than once before successfully connecting to ClarkWiFi.

  4. Click the folder icon next to the dropdown labeled CA certificate.

  5. In the Choose a Certificate…. window, click on File System then navigate to the directory /etc/ssl/certs/.

    1. Select Go_Daddy_Class_2_CA.pem and click OK.

  6. In the Authentication window, click Connect. Network Manager will try to connect to ClarkWiFi given the settings you've just applied.

Note: You may be asked for your computer password when you save wireless changes

  1. A success notification will appear. You are now connected to ClarkWiFi.
