WiFi for Students - Connecting on Gadgets
Before You Start
What is the Gadget Network?
Clark's Gadget network is used to connect 'other' devices that can't use a browser to register with our network. such as:
Gaming systems - XBox, Playstation, Switch, etc.
Smart hubs - Amazon Dot; Echo; Show, Apple Homepod, Google Home, etc.
Smart accessories - Wyze, Wemo, Hue, etc.
TV streaming devices - Apple TV, Chromecast, Firestick, etc.
Note: These instructions should not be used for other devices such as desktops, laptops, phones or tablets.
Locate your MAC address
Prior to registering your devices, you will need to locate the MAC address. These are often printed on the device themselves, or on the packaging.
A MAC address has the form of a 12 digit number, in pairs - and often separated by dashes or colons (for example - 2E:CC:88:41:A1:B6).
Warning: Do not use the device’s Bluetooth address to connect or register your device/gadget.
Instructions
Register Device
Navigate to our registration page (https://cppm.clarku.edu/guest)
Here you will see all your registered devices (including non-gadgets)
Click the Create button
Fill in the required information.
Ensure that you include a descriptive Device name.
Click Create.
You will be presented with an 8-letter network password, and confirmation of the details that you added.
It is important that you save and record this network password somewhere securely. You will not be able to access it from this site at a later date.
This password is different from your personal password to access your gadget and will only be used to connect to the network.
Complete Set Up
Connect your device to the ClarkGadget WiFi network.
Every gadget device is different, so you’ll need to consult the device’s documentation for information on how to enter the network password and complete the connection.
Troubleshooting
Reset gadget’s network password
Follow these directions if you forget or lose your gadget’s network password and need to reconnect the gadget to the Clark network.
Navigate to the Clark ITS registration page (https://cppm.clarku.edu/guest)
Here you will see all your registered devices (including non-gadgets)
Click on the correct Gadget on the list of registered devices.
Click Edit.
Choose the option to generate a new device password,
Click Update device.
You will be presented with a new 8-letter network password.
It is important that you save and record this network password somewhere securely. You will not be able to access it from this site at a later date.
This password is different from your personal password to access your gadget and will only be used to connect to the network.
You will need to follow your device’s documentation to change the network password.
