  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the left pane and click Printers & Scanners.

  4. In the Printers & Scanners window, click button labeled Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax…

  5. In the Add Printer window, you will need to add the Advanced icon. Hold the Control key down on your keyboard and click the blank space next to the icons across the top of the window.

  6. Select Customize Toolbar. Release the Control key.

  7. Drag and drop Advanced into the toolbar of Add Printer.

  8. Now click the Advanced icon. Under Type, select Windows printer via spools. The Device field should say Another Device.

  9. In the URL field, enter the path name for the printer. File paths differ based on the model of the printer. Click the model of your printer below to see the correct file path format.

File path format for Canon printers: smb://printers.ad.clarku.edu/queue_name.

Example: smb://printers.ad.clarku.edu/151WOOD_Color_MFP_001

File path format for HP printers: smb://cuprinters/printer_name?encryption=no

  3. In the search box, type in the model of your printer (example: Canon Color MPF C250iF). Select the correct driver for the printer you are mapping to.

  4. Once all fields are filled in, click Add.

  5. The Printers & Scanners window will close. Open a Word document or a Text Edit document, type in a few words, and then print the page to test the printer connection.

    1. When attempting to print for the first time, you will get a prompt for your Clark credentials. Input your username (without the clarku.edu email address) and password.

      1. Example: jclark instead of jclark@clarku.edu

Tip: If you do not want to be prompted for your Clark credentials each time that you print, you should check off the “Remember this password in my keychain” option, but only after verifying you are able to print successfully the first time.
