Before You Start

You’ll need…

  • Your Clark username and password

  • The full name of the file share you’d like to connect to

  • An internet connection

    • If you are trying to connect from off campus, you will need to be connected to the Clark VPN prior to following these instructions. See instructions: VPN - Installation

File Paths

 Personal File Shares
  • smb://fs.clarku.edu/clarku/username

  • Replacing the username with your Clark username

  • Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/clarku/helpdesk

 Department File Shares
  • smb://fs.clarku.edu/dept/

  • Followed by department abbreviation or code

  • Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/dept/its

 Research File Shares
  • smb://fs.clarku.edu/research

  • Followed by faculty username/folder name for research shares

  • Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/research/its_data

 Class File Shares

Instructions

  1. With the Finder window active, click on the Go menu to open a drop-down menu. Select Connect to Server…

  2. In the “Server Address:” text field, type the full name of the share using above guidelines.

  3. Click the + button to save path to Favorite Servers.

  4. Select the file share and click Connect.

  5. As the connection is established, you will be asked for your Clark Account credentials.

    1. Enter your Clark email address, “username@clarku.edu” in the “Name” field.

    2. Enter your Clark Account password in the “Password” field.

    3. Select “remember this password in my keychain” unless you are using a public or lab device.

    4. Click “Connect.”

  6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to map additional file shares to your Mac.
