Before You Start

You’ll need to know your Clark Account username and password, full path to the file share and be connected to the internet. If you are trying to connect from off campus, you will need to be connected to the Clark VPN prior to following these instructions.

File Paths

Personal File Shares

smb://fs.clarku.edu/clarku/username

Replacing the username with your Clark username

Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/clarku/helpdesk

Department File Shares

smb://fs.clarku.edu/dept/

Followed by department abbreviation or code

Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/dept/its

Research File Shares

smb://fs.clarku.edu/research

Followed by faculty username/folder name for research shares

Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/research/its_data

Class File Shares

smb://fs.clarku.edu/class/

Followed by class folder information

Example: smb://fs.clarku.edu/class/MSC223442

Instructions

  1. With the Finder window active, click on the Go menu to open a drop-down menu. Select Connect to Server…

  2. In the “Server Address:” text field, type the full name of the share using above guidelines.

  3. Click the + button to save path to Favorite Servers.

  4. Select the file share and click Connect.

  5. As the connection is established, you will be asked for your Clark Account credentials.

    1. Enter your Clark email address, “username@clarku.edu” in the “Name” field.

    2. Enter your Clark Account password in the “Password” field.

    3. Select “remember this password in my keychain” unless you are using a public or lab device.

    4. Click “Connect.”

  6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to map additional file shares to your Mac.
