Before You Start

  • Determine the make and model of the specific printer you’re mapping to.

  • Connected Connect to the Clark network via WiFi, ethernet, or VPN (if remote).

  • Determine which version of MacOS your device uses.

  • These instructions will only work on Mac computers running MacOS 13 or higher. Determine which version of MacOS your device uses: Apple - Determine MacOS If your computer is running a lower MacOS, contact the ITS Help Desk.

  • Have the printer name and printer file path nearby. This information is given to you by the ITS Help Desk.

  • Install printer drivers

  1. Click on the Kandji icon in image-20240611-130429.pngImage Added located on the upper right section side of the toolbar across along the top of your screen.

  2. Click Kandji Self-Service.

  3. In the left pane, click Utilities.

  4. Locate the correct driver for your printer model and click Install.

  5. Once the driver is installed, close the Kandji window.

Setting Up

  1. Download the appropriate driver for your printer’s make and model.

  2. Click the Apple logo in the upper left corner of your screen and select System Settings.

  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the left pane and click Printers & Scanners.

Mapping to a Canon Printer

From a University-Owned Device

  1. A new window will appear listing the available Canon network print queues. Type the name of the desired print queue into the search field and click on the print queue to select it.

  1. Make sure all fields are filled in, then click Add.

  2. You should be brought back to the original Printers & Scanners window. The newly connected printer should be displayed there. Print a test page to make sure the printer was mapped correctly.

From a Personal Device

  1. In the Add button labeled Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax…

  2. In the Add Printer window, you will need to add the Advanced icon. Hold the Control key down on your keyboard and click the blank space next to the icons across the top of the window.

  3. Select Customize Toolbar. Release the Control key.

  4. Drag and drop Advanced into the toolbar of Add Printer.

  5. Now click the Advanced icon. Under typeType, select Windows printer via spools. The Device field should say Another Device.

  6. In the URL field, enter the path name for the printer.

    The format of the path is

    File paths differ based on the model of the printer. Click the model of your printer below to see the correct file path format.

In the Use drop-down menu, click Select printer software. A new window will open, listing all installed print drivers. Select the correct driver for the printer you are mapping to (you downloaded this driver in Step 1 of the Setting Up section above).

Mapping to HP or Xerox Printer

Printing a Test Page

From the Printers & Scanners, select the correct printer by clicking on it. Then click the Open Print Queue button.

Select Printer from the top toolbar. Then click Print Test Page.

    1. When attempting to print for the first time, you will get a prompt for your Clark credentials.

Tip:If you do not want to be prompted for your Clark credentials each time that you print, you should check off the “Remember this password in my keychain” option, but only after verifying you are able to print successfully the first time.
