Zoom-Canvas Integration
Zoom and Canvas have seamless integration, allowing for effective management of online meetings for your Canvas courses.
Benefits of using the Zoom-Canvas Integration
Key features include:
Single Sign-On (SSO): Faculty and students can access Zoom directly from Canvas without separate logins.
Scheduling from Canvas: Instructors can schedule meetings inside their Canvas course using the Zoom tab.
Automatic Participant Access: Students enrolled in the course can automatically view scheduled meetings and can join with a single click.
Cloud Recording Sync: Zoom cloud recordings are displayed in the Canvas Zoom tab under Cloud Recordings, allowing students to view them without leaving Canvas.
Creating a Zoom meeting in Canvas
Click the Zoom link in the course navigation menu.
If you don’t see Zoom
Click on Settings
Click on Navigation
Drag Zoom from the inactive section at the bottom, to the active section at the top
, Click Save.
Click Schedule a New Meeting
Choose your topic, date, time and duration
Configure options such as enable recurring meeting, enabler waiting room, or require passcode, if required
Click Save.
Starting a Zoom meeting in Canvas
Go to the Zoom tab in Canvas
Under Upcoming Meetings, click Start (for hosts) or Join (for participants)
Recording and Sharing Zoom meetings in Canvas
During the meeting, click Record
Choose Cloud Recording
After the meeting ends, recordings will appear in the Canvas Zoom section under Cloud Recordings.
Use the toggle switch to Publish the recording, making it visible to students
Students can access recordings directly from the Zoom section in Canvas
Recording Retention Policy
Zoom recordings are retained for 180 days. Zoom recordings are not intended for permanent storage. If you want the recording to be preserved for a longer period, you will need to upload the Zoom recording to Kaltura.
