Web Browser - Clear cache and cookies

Clearing your cache and cookies can help fix problems like loading or formatting issues on websites. It can also help you troubleshoot internet browsing issues by ensuring that any problems you encounter are with the website, not inconsistencies caused by using different browsers. 

Web Browsers

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Click the three dots located in the top right corner of the browser.

  3. Select Clear browsing data

  4. Check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. 

  5. Choose a time range, like Last hour or All time. 

  6. Click Delete data

  7. Close all Chrome tabs/windows and then reopen.

Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge. 

  2. Click the three dots in the upper right corner. 

  3. Select Settings. 

  4. Click Privacy, search, and services from the menu on the left side of your screen.

  5. Under the Clear browsing data heading, click Choose what to clear

  6. Select a time range. 

  7. Check the boxes for the data you want to clear. 

  8. Click Clear now

  9. Close all tabs and windows, then reopen Edge. 

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Click the Firefox menu (three lines) in the top right corner of the browser.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Privacy & Security from the menu on the left side of your screen.

  5. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data.

  6. Click Clear data.

  7. In the new dialog box, click Clear Now.

  8. Close all Firefox tabs and windows, then reopen.

Safari

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Click the Safari menu in the top left corner of the browser.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Privacy.

  5. Click Manage Website Data.

  6. Click Remove all to remove all cached data and cookies.

  7. Click Remove Now in the new dialogue box.

  8. Wait a few moments, then click Done.

  9. Close the remaining dialogue box.

  10. On your keyboard, press Command +Q to quit Safari.

  11. Reopen Safari.

Keyboard Shortcuts

 

MacOS: Use the keyboard shortcuts to clear the cache and cookies.

  • Chrome: Command+ Option + E

  • Safari: Command+ Shift + Delete

You can also try private browsing by opening an Incognito window in Google Chrome. To do this, you can use the shortcut keys ⌘+Shift+N

Windows: Use the keyboard shortcuts to clear the cache and cookies.

  • Chrome or Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  • Edge: Ctrl+ F5
