Before You Start
Access your online OneDrive account through your internet browser.
If you’re off campus, keep your cell phone nearby as you may be required to authenticate using Multi-Factor Authentication.
Instructions
Share File or Folder by Direct Invitation
Hover over the file or folder you’d like to share. Click on the arrow icon that appears.
Type in the names of the people you’d like to directly invite to the file.
Click the eye icon and select the appropriate permissions.
Add an optional message, then click Invite. The people you added will receive an email about the shared document.
Share File or Folder by Copying Link
Hover over the file or folder you’d like to share. Click on the arrow icon that appears.
Click the gear icon next to the Copy Link button.
Warning: Clicking the Copy Link button at this stage will not work because you have not set any permissions yet.
In Link Settings, choose who will be using the link by clicking the bubble next the appropriate option.
Warning: Unless you’re working with external parties, ITS recommends “people you choose” or “People in Clark University” for data security purposes.
Change edit or view permissions as necessary.
Click Apply.
If you selected “People you choose,” in Link Settings, type in their names and then click Copy Link.
If you selected “People in Clark University,” click Copy Link.
Paste the link into an email or chat communication with the people you’d like to share the file with. They will now be able to access the file.
Warning: “People in Clark University” includes students, or anyone with a Clark account. If you choose this option, make sure the link is only shared with the appropriate people and does not contain confidential information.
