Before You Start

Clark University provides Sophos antivirus free of charge to all members of the Clark community. If you have a paid-for antivirus software on your computer, you must fully update it.

  1. Open a web browser.

  2. Navigate to https://www.clarku.edu/offices/its/a-z-service-catalog/antivirus/

  3. Follow the detailed instructions on this page which includes the following steps:

    1. Receive a unique registration link

    2. Create a Sophos Home Account

    3. Download and Install Sophos

After Bringing Personal Device to Campus

  1. Connect your device with an Ethernet cable to a network port (wall jack).

  2. Launch a web browser and register your device based on your device type (instructions below).

Register Your Device

Chromebook

  1. Once you’re connected to the internet, open an internet browser and navigate to https://clarknet.clarku.edu.

  2. Cluck Continue to Device Registration.

  3. Log in with your Clark account.

  4. Enter a nickname for your device that is descriptive.

    1. ITS recommends the device make and model, and year of registration.

    2. Example: Chromebook Fall 24

  5. Check the box to state that you have read and agree to Clark’s Appropriate Use policy.

  6. Click Register.

  7. Click Ok

Mac

Install System Check

  1. When connected, you will receive a pop-up window with a link to Continue to Device Registration.

    1. If you don’t receive this window, open a browser and navigate to https://clarknet.clarku.edu

  2. Click on Continue to Device Registration (or I have a Clark Account)

    1. If prompted, click Allow.

  3. Log in with your Clark account.

  4. Click Step 1. Download Clear Pass OnGuard Agent

    1. If you receive a prompt, read the instructions and click OK.

  5. The software will save to your Downloads folder. Once the download is complete, double click on the file to open it.

    1. If you receive a message stating “Clear Pass OnGuard can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store,” please expand the instructions below.

  1. Return to the internet browser window and choose Step 2. Launch Clear Pass

    1. If you receive a prompt, read the instructions and click OK.

  2. Clear Pass OnGuard will check to ensure that your system has an up-to-date operating system, and up-to-date antivirus software.

  3. When complete, the webpage will reload and identify if the device has met the requirements.

    1. If the device failed a requirement, revisit the Before You Start section above to update your operating system or install antivirus software.

  4. Enter a nickname for your device that is descriptive.

    1. We recommend the device make and model, and year of registration.

    2. Example: Macbook Pro 2025

  5. Check the box to state that you have read and agree to the Appropriate Use policy.

  6. Click Register.

  7. Click OK.

Windows

  1. When connected, you will receive a pop-up window with a link to Continue to Device Registration

    1. If you don’t receive this window, open a browser and navigate to https://clarknet.clarku.edu

  2. Click on Continue to Device Registration.

  3. Log in with your Clark account credentials (full email address and password).

  4. Click Step 1. Download Clear Pass OnGuard Agent.

    1. If you receive a prompt, read the instructions and click OK.

  5. Once the download is complete, click Step 2. Launch Clear Pass.

    1. If prompted, allow your browser to open the application.

  6. When the system check is complete, the webpage will reload and identify if the device has met the requirements of an up-to-date operating system, and up-to-date antivirus software.

  7. Enter a nickname for your device that is descriptive.
