Before You Start

All computers have a unique numerical identifier called a MAC or Ethernet address that lets computer networks direct data traffic to the correct computer. This document will guide you through finding your MAC address on an Apple OS X computer.

1. Click on the Apple icon at the top of the screen and select the System Preferences option.

1. This will open the Network window. Select the device you wish to find the MAC address of from the panel on the left. The most common ones are Ethernet (physical connection) and Airport (wireless).
